Alonso Menendez cigars came about when Felix Menendez, who had a hand in classic Cuban brands like Montecristo and H. Upmann, collaborated with Mario Amerino, a prolific Brazilian tobacco grower. The cigars are Brazilian puros, consisting entirely of Mata Fina tobacco from the northeastern region of Bahia. Alonso Menendez cigars are rich and intense with notes of chocolate, caramel, and subtle citrus undertones—some reviewers even detected a coconut note.
