The Plasencia family is one of the most well known cigar families in all of Nicaragua. Their current factory is known as the "Cathedral of Tobacco", and it was built by well known manufacturer Dannemann. The current owner of the Plasencia tobacco company is Nestor Plasencia Jr, who learned about tobacco from his father Nestor Senior. Not only do they own this amazing factory in Nicaragua, but other factories in Honduras as well, to ensure that they produce only the highest quality product. In their one factory in Nicaragua alone, they produce over 10,000 bales of tobacco per year! They produce a number of high quality products for many other companies, such as Joya de Nicaragua, and Rocky Patel, Alec Bradley and Gurkha. The Plasencia family might not be as well known to the consumer as many cigars don't bear their name, but their tobacco and the quality they instill in each cigar is universally known. Nestor Plasencia is a man who doesn't care for fame or recognition, just the advancement of tobacco and the cigar.
It should come as no surprise to you, then, that we are proud to be able to carry Generations by Nestor. These cigars are high quality premium handmade cigars that are carefully rolled in the Plasencia factory in Honduras. In fact, Nestor Sr. and Jr. both individually blended each size to ensure perfection (thus the name, Generations). Each size is uniquely different to this cigar, as the blend is completely different. This is something you really don't see in the cigar industry, but Generations by Nestor allows you to be able to try a different blend with each size, in the same line!
Generations by Nestor cigars come in wonderfully handcrafted black boxes of twenty. These boxes really are amazingly beautiful and are a fitting home for these delicious cigars. There are three different cigars in the Generations by Nestor line. There is the Abuelo, Hijo and Papa, all Spanish words that are defined as members of the immediate family. The mildest of the bunch is the Hijo, which is 5 x 48. This cigar has a creamy Connecticut Ecuador wrapper, as well as Sumatra tobacco for the binder and Nicaraguan and Dominican tobacco for the filler. The Papa cigar is next in line in strength, as it is a medium bodied cigar. It also employs a Connecticut Ecuador wrapper and Sumatra tobacco for the binder. For the filler it uses a unique combination of Nicaraguan tobacco as well as Mexican tobacco. It is also 6 x 52. Lastly, the "grandfather", or Abuelo cigar is a medium-full bodied cigar, that is 7 x 50. The Abuelo uses a Nicaraguan Habano Rosado wrapper, which is full of spice, as well as Costa Rican tobacco for the binder and quality Nicaraguan tobacco for the filler.
