Drew Estate has grown immensely since the debut of their famous ACID line in 1999. Besides creating their own blends, they have also been commissioned to create private labels and blends for well-known companies. When Rocky Patel decided that he wanted to create an infused cigar, he considered them the only option. Rocky wanted to make sure that his cigar was still traditional in some ways, but still had the recognizable flavor that Drew Estate is known for.

Drew Estate’s cigars are especially appealing to the novice cigar smoker; their unique infusions provide a perfect accompaniment to the subtleties of their tobacco blends. The aromas, tastes, and quality of these cigars put them in a league of their own, and that’s something that Rocky Patel wanted to tap into for the Java cigar. Rocky told Jonathan Drew that he wanted a cigar that the world had never seen before, something revolutionary. After their original conversation, the Java cigar went into testing for months until both of the creators were satisfied with the blend.

Rocky wanted to make sure that the cigars weren’t as strongly infused as many of Drew Estate’s prior blends, because he wanted something that traditional smokers would appreciate as well. Because of this, Drew decided to allow the aromatic mocha flavor to seep into the tobacco prior to rolling, rather than after. This allowed for the cigar to be subtly infused, but not overdone.

The Rocky Patel Java cigar was introduced in 2004, and is offered in either a Connecticut shade (Latte) or Brazilian Mata Fina wrapper. Both cigars feature high quality premium Nicaraguan tobacco, as well as an infusion of coffee, cocoa, and vanilla.
