18-Foot Cigar Sold To Private Collector For $185,000

It’s hard to believe that anyone would actually want a cigar that’s 18 feet long, 3 feet wide and almost 900 pounds, but believe it or not there is someone out there that feels this gigantic cigar is the perfect addition to their collection. A private collector abroad recently paid $185,000 for the Gran Habano #5 El Gigante stogie.

The giant cigar even came in its own carrying case, a 900 pound round wooden crate. Juan Panesso of Cigars Direct said he had the huge cigar sit inside their Clearwater, FL warehouse a few days awaiting workers to pack it up and ship it out.

“A guy called and said he needed to locate a few high-end cigars,” Panesso said. Among the high-end cigars on the buyers list was the El Gigante. Before Panesso had the cigar it was in the hands of another collector in Miami who had it on display for special events and cigar shows.

The Gran Habano #5 El Gigante used over 16,000 wrapper leaves, enough to make 25,000 regular sized cigars just to put it into perspective for you.

Panesso was happy to sell the cigar to a collector that really appreciated it. “We pride ourselves on finding the hard-to-find cigars,” he said.
