BCP News Brief – New Stogies from La Aurora & La Sirena, Rocky Patel
One of the oldest names in cigars will be joining forces with one of the newest brands this spring when La Aurora and Miami Cigars’ La Sirena unleash their collaborative blend, The Merlion. The cigar will be produced at the La Aurora factory in Santiago, DR, and consists of an interesting blend of Brazilian Bahia, Dominican Corojo, Dominican Criollo 98’, and Nicaraguan ligero filler tobaccos beneath a Brazilian Sumatra binder and Ecuadorian Corojo wrapper. The Merlion will beinitially available in three sizes, Robusto, Toro, and Gran Toro, and will be offered out in boxes of 20. The medium-bodied blend gets its name from the mythical creature the Merlion, which is half lion and half mermaid, making it the perfect representation of the two brands. The Merlion by La Sirena is set to hit shelves some time in late June.
As reported earlier this week by Halfwheel.com, Rocky Patel will be introducing a new Nicaraguan version of their extremely popular The Edge line, which will be produced at the TAVICUSA factory co-owned by Rocky Patel and Amilcar Perez in Estelí, Nicaragua. The Edge in all previous incarnations has been made at the El Paraiso factory in Honduras, however, most of Rocky Patel’s line additions in recent years have been made at TAVICUSA, including Thunder by Nimish, and Xen by Nish Patel. Check back for more details, as no official release date for the Nicaraguan Edge has been announced at this time.
