BCP News Brief: Beach Becomes Gurkha, Nimish Goes Big, & Schwarzenegger Helps The Kids
Beach Cigar Group, Gurkha Cigars‘ parent company, has officially re-branded itself as Gurkha Cigar Group Inc., according to Cigar Aficionado. The name-change coincides with the Gurkha brand’s 125th anniversary, and is an effort to link the distributor more directly to the brand it is so closely associated with. Company president Gary Hyams was quoted as saying, “The new name is also appropriate to further signal the positive direction the company is taking and will be a tremendous help as we position the Gurkha brand internationally.” Gurkha, a company with a long and storied stogie history dating back to 1887, has also announced plans to release a new cigar later this year to commemorate their anniversary.
Rocky Patel has announced his latest entry to the “big ring” craze of late with the upcoming release of a new 6×62 vitola for the Thunder by Nimish line of cigars, which has been fittingly dubbed the “Sixty-Two”. This addition marks the 4th size now available for the cigar, which was blended by Rocky’s cousin, Nimish Desai. Look for the Sixty-Two to arrive on shelves later this month.
And for today’s last story, known aficionado Arnold Schwarzenegger has teamed up with maker of fine humidors Daniel Marshall to create a limited edition gift set to benefit After School All Stars, a national charity organization dedicated to providing after-school programs to keep kids safe and successful. The gift set includes a numbered and engraved Arnold Schwarzenegger Tank Watch featuring a stainless steel case and leather band, a limited edition Daniel Marshall Precious Wood 125-cigar humidor with 10 commemorative cigars, and an engraved plaque of Schwarzenegger’s own personal M47-331 tank. What, are you really that surprised that he owns a tank? The package will sell for $2,795 and proceeds will go to support After School All Stars, whose programs currently serve more than 80,000 kids. Production on this high-ticket item will be limited to only 100 units, so fans of the Governator had better act fast if they want this piece for their man-cave.
