BCP News Brief- Camacho to Sponsor Orange Bowl
It looks like good times are up ahead for fans of fine cigars and Football, as Davidoff of Geneva and the Orange Bowl committee have announced a new three-year agreement making Camacho cigars an official “Corporate Sponsor” of the Orange Bowl festival in Miami Gardens, Florida.
According to the Miami Herald, the sponsorship, which includes the 2012, 2013 and 2014 Discover Orange Bowls, as well as the 2013 Discover BCS National Championship, will mean that game attendees, VIP’s, and committee members will have access to on-site smoking lounges, where Camacho cigars will be made available to enjoy during game-day events. The biggest pre-game event, the Orange Bowl Game Day Fan Zone, will have three separate designated smoking lounges dedicated to sampling Camacho stogies, including a decked-out “Camacho Club Lounge”.
The Orange Bowl, an American College Football tradition dating back to 1935, has seen several Corporate Sponsors over the years, but this marks the first time a premium cigar manufacturer has participated in the event. “We pride ourselves in affiliating with quality brands, especially those with strong South Florida ties, like Camacho Cigars,” said Michael Saks, Chief Operating Officer of the Orange Bowl. I’m willing to bet Camacho will win over quite a few new fans from the College Football crowd, and who knows, maybe we’ll even see a limited edition Camacho “Orange Bowl” stogie somewhere down the road. Either way, this seems like a smart move for both organizations, as Football and cigars have long been a winning combination.
