BCP News Brief – Final Highlights from the IPCPR Trade Show
With the IPCPR trade show just behind us there has been a lot of cigar news released over the last few days. Here are a few highlights among the many.
E.P. Carrillo announced their newest smoke called the Inch. The Inch series will come in three sizes: 60, 62 and 64 ring gauge and will be available in stores over the next few weeks. These unique cigars will be decked out in bands that look like old rulers. The Inch will feature two different wrapper types: maduro, made with Connecticut broadleaf wrappers and natural, made with Ecuadorian wrappers grown from Sumatra seeds.
Ghurka introduced two new lines at the IPCPR show, the Ghost and the 125th Anniversary cigar. The Ghost comes in four sizes (5 x 52, 6 x 54, 6 x 52, 6 x 60) and features a Dominican criollo binder and Dominican/Nicaraguan fillers wrapped in a dark, oily Brazilian wrapper. The 125th anniversary cigar has a Habano wrapper and binder with Nicaraguan, Brazilian and Dominican fillers. The Ghurka 125th Anniversary will be available in four sizes: Robusto (5 x 52), Rothchild (6 x 54), Torpedo ( 6 1/2 x 54) and XO (6 x 60).
In other news two of the biggest names in the Dominican cigar world are joining together to create a cigar geared towards tourism in the Dominican Republic. Litto Gomez and Jose Seijas are coming together to create a cigar that will draw tourists into the factory where they can see the art of cigar making first hand. This unique venture involves a lot of trust and respect on many levels since Gomez is trusting Seijas to take care of “his baby,” as reported by Cigar Aficionado.
