Cigars with ring thicknesses ranging from 60 to 70 in thickness seem to be a growing trend in the stogie world. Berger & Argenti announced the release of the ultra-thick FATSO, this 70 ring gauge monster is the latest in gigantic cigars. Creative genius, Michael Argenti and cigar maker, Kiki Berger are the dynamic force behind Berger & Argenti brands.
The FATSO is a series of four thick, rectangular and pressed perfectos that feature a Nicaraguan maduro wrapper. These stogies have an Ecuadorian Sumatra binder and filler tobacco from Nicaragua. The four sizes include: the Dipper (4 x 62), the Puddin (4 ½ x 64), the Bufflehead ( 5 ½ x 68) and the Butterball (6 x 70). FATSO’s come in boxes of 16 that have small holes drilled into the cedar for airflow and a distinct look.
The La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor Reserva is another stogie released this month by Ashton Distributors and the Garcia family. This cigar is a more intense version of the award-winning La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor brand. Featuring a Cuban-seed leaf wrapper grown in Mexico and Nicaraguan filler and binder, this cigar is a unique blend that is a stronger and more complex version of the Mi Amor. The La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor Reserva is available in four sizes: Beso (5 5/8 x 48), Maximo (5 ½ x 54), Divino (6 ¼ x 52) and Romantico (6 7/8 x 50).
One of the more exciting new updates in the cigar world is that Hall of Fame football player and coach Mike Ditka signed on with Camacho Cigars! The partnership means that Camacho will be developing a new line of cigars featuring the Ditka name. Ditka made his first appearance for the brand at the IPCPR show in Orlando, FL. The first cigar in the line should be out on the market later this year with more to follow in 2013.
