BCP News Brief – The Latest on IPCPR Releases
Last week Rocky Patel put out 7 (count em’, 7!) official press releases announcing new cigars. While 7 press releases is a lot for one day, it’s really no surprise since Rocky Patel is known for putting out an abundant amount of new stogies each year. The brand announced the national release of Burn Naples Florida, which will be available in three sizes: Robusto (5 x 50), Toro (6 1/2 x 50) and Torpedo (6 1/2 x 52) and will come in boxes of 20. The Homerun 500 is a new cigar that will honor baseball legend Gary Sheffield and will be available in the Toro size. The Private Cellar is another new release that will be available in three sizes: Robusto (5 x 50), Toro (6 1/2 x 52) and Torpedo (6 1/8 x 52) and will also be offered in 20 count boxes.
The Freedom by Rocky Patel is one the company seems particularly fond of. According to Halfwheel.com, Rocky Patel said the following of Freedom, “I have spent a great deal of time in Washington fighting alongside others in our industry’s fight to preserve our rights to smoke cigars, this cigar is representative of that.” This cigar will be available in four sizes: Robusto (5 x 50), Torpedo (6 1/2 x 52), Toro (6 x 52) and “60” (6 x 60).
The Vintage 2003 Box Press is a special edition that will be available in three sizes: Robusto (5 1/2 x 50), Toro (6 1/2 x 52) and Torpedo (6 1/4 x 52). Rocky Patel also announced the release of the Edge Habano Nicaragua. This highly anticipated extension to the popular Edge line will be available in two sizes: Toro (6 x 52) and Torpedo (6 x 52).
And finally, the 7th announcement by Rocky Patel is the Nording 50th Anniversary Toro Grande. This cigar is a special edition and celebrates world renowned pipe maker, Eric Nording’s 50th year in the tobacco industry.
Halfwheel.com also reported that Xikar will be releasing a new line that will be called the Habano Squared. These cigars will come in four sizes: Robusto (5 x 50), Toro (6 1/2 x 52), Belicoso (6 x 54) and Grande (6 x 60). Xikar also plans on showing off a few new accessories at IPCPR including lighters, ashtrays and cutters. The Sakura and the OSOK are two new designs that will be added to Xikar’s list of lighters and cutters and they are also adding to their Tech Lighter series by including the new double and triple flame versions of the lighter.
And lastly, Camacho has signed a partnership with the legendary football player and coach, Mike Ditka. According to PR Newswire, Ditka and Camacho plan on developing a series of new cigar lines that will carry Ditka’s name. These stogies will be made at Tabacos Ranch Jamastran in Honduras and Ditka will serve as the brand’s ambassador at select events, including this year’s IPCPR trade show in Orlando, FL.
