Habanos Takes On New Co-President
Last week a new co-president was appointed as the latest leader for Habanos S.A. Luis Sanchez-Harguindey Pardo De Vera is now taking on the co-president responsibilities and replaced Buenaventura Jimenez Sanchez-Canete, a Spaniard who had almost 30 years of experience in the tobacco industry.
Founded in 1994, Habanos S.A. now has a presence in over 150 countries through its distribution network and more than 90% of the billing comes from the international business activity. The Cuban company is a leading business in the commercialization of premium cigars.
The new co-president, Luis Sanchez-Harguindey, will work alongside Walfrido Hernandez Mesa, who is also co-president. Because he previously served in Cuba as Habanos’ Financial Vice President, Luis Sanchez-Harguindey has experience and knowledge of the company.
According to Habanos, Sanchez is leaving to pursue “other interests and opportunities,” the company thanked him for his long term commitment and for all of his contributions.
