BCP News Brief: Hendrik Kelner, Jr. to Debut Smoking Jacket Cigars at IPCPR 2013
Following much internet buzz over the past few months, Hendrik Kelner, Jr., son of Davidoff cigars company president Henke Kelner, has confirmed that his Smoking Jacket cigar line will debut at this year’s IPCPR Convention and Trade Show in mid-July, according to Halfwheel.com.
Although a limited amount of Smoking Jackets were spotted at the Dominican ProCigar Festival in February, and a version of the new blend has been selling at a shop in the Dominican Republic where the cigars are produced, the official release will be at IPCPR 2013. The cigar will be made available in four sizes:
Favoritos – 6 x 46
Short Robusto – 4 1/2 x 56
Robusto Imperial – 5 x 52
Toro Magno – 7 x 50
Kelner has revealed that two different wrappers are being used on the project. The Favoritos and Short Robusto will showcase a Dominican Cotuí wrapper, a Kelner “family reserve tobacco” grown by Henrik’s sister Monika Kelner for use exclusively at Kelner’s factory in the D.R. The Toro Magno and Robusto Imperial sizes will be wrapped in a Brazilian Cubra leaf. The remaining blend information on the cigar has not yet been disclosed.
