Tasting Tips with Tom Lazuka of Asylum Cigars (video)
Tom Lazuka, co-founder of Asylum Cigars, shares with us some Tasting Tips for better enjoying cigars.
Hi, my name is Tom Lazuka. I’m the co-founder of the Asylum Cigars. One of the common questions we get is kind of about tasting cigars. “How do you taste all those subtle notes that you would get, you know, that you see in the magazines and how they say they’re woody or earthy and this and that?”
One of the things that I found is a lot of guys don’t retro-hale their cigars. They don’t smoke through their nose, and I think it’s really something that’s vital to really, truly tasting all the different flavors, nuances of the cigar. So I would definitely try to.
It takes a little getting used to, blowing through your nose, but if you can do that it really will give you those subtle flavors that you miss just through your palate, just through your mouth. So just take it slow, blow real easy through your nose, and hopefully you’ll get to taste some of the subtle flavors that you’ve missed in the past.
