Tatuaje Announces “Jason” as Monster Series 2013 Release

Pete Johnson of Tatuaje Cigars announced yesterday via Facebook that the 2013 installment of their annual limited Monster Series would be based on the character Jason Voorhees from the Friday The 13th slasher film franchise, according to Halfwheel.com.

A photo posted on Facebook by Tatuaje depicted the character’s signature hockey mask with the number “6” on it, indicating that this is the sixth release in the Monster Series. A comment from Tatuaje on the photo read “No machete. Just a big powerful double corona size. More to come later.”

Johnson had previously stated that the 2013 release would be the Chucky and The Bride of Chucky from the “Child’s Play” film series, but has apparently changed his mind. Though the company’s Facebook comment refers to the Jason Voorhees vitola as a double corona, specifics of the cigar have not yet been released.

Launched in 2008, The Monster Series was created by Tatuaje founder Pete Johnson as a tribute to the monster/horror film genre. A different, single-batch blend in a different size has been released each year since. Previous releases include the Frank, Drac, The Face, Wolfman, and the Mummy.  In 2012, smaller vitolas of the Monster Series installments were released in a sampler box called Tatuaje Little Monsters.
