Urgent – Only One Week Left to Submit Comments to FDA!
ATTENTION – We have just one week left to submit comments to the FDA before the comment period ends on August 8th.
.THIS IS OUR LAST CHANCE TO MAKE OUR VOICES HEARD and SAVE PREMIUM CIGARS FROM UNJUST OVER-REGULATION!
So far we have written about the arbitrary $10 price point and the lengthy and expensive approval process for new cigars that we could be facing, but as written, the FDA’s proposed regulations could eliminate the premium cigar hobby as we know it on many different levels.
Proposed FDA regulations could impose:
- Limits on special release and small batch cigars
- A ban on cigar events where free cigars are available to legal age adults
- Limits on nicotine levels in cigars to a level near zero, severely impacting the flavor of cigars
- New taxes or “user fees” on cigars to finance the very regulations cigar aficionados don’t want!
These new laws could possibly be the first steps toward a ban on internet / mail-order cigars and/or walk-in humidors at your local smoke shop. As if that wasn’t enough, these regulations would jeopardize over 85,000 American jobs, destroy America’s “mom & pop” premium cigar retailers & manufacturers, and risk over 250,000 jobs in Latin America that produce cigars, impacting the economic/political stability in the region.
As stated above, this is your LAST CHANCE to make your voice heard and let the FDA know that premium cigars should be exempt from regulation!
Below we have provided a sample comment to the FDA’s proposal.
Please copy and paste the following letter to submit in your comment to the FDA:
As an adult consumer of premium cigars, I am opposed to FDA’s attempt to regulate these products. Premium cigars are unique, artisanal products that deserve their own categorization and are not defined by any price point. FDA regulation would eliminate thousands of jobs in the U.S. and abroad and have a negative economic impact in these regions. The proposed regulations are unnecessary, unwarranted, and serve only to deprive millions of hard-working Americans of their favorite pastime. Please do not disrupt the legal-aged adult’s right to enjoy a cigar.
