Weekend Roundup – Eiroa Returns, Torano Vault Cigars See Second Release, & Macanudo 6×60 Ships

This week was a fairly slow one in the world of cigars, however a couple stories of note did pop up. I know the suspense is killing you, so without further ado, let’s check out the Weekend round-up for February 17th 2012:

Former President of Camacho Cigars, Christian Eiroa is currently gearing up to make a return to the cigar industry, and has already been in contact with retailers in regards to distribution, according to Eiroa, who served as president of Camacho since 1998, made the announcement in July of 2011 that he had taken on the role of “advisor”, and was no longer President of Camacho. After having kept a pretty low profile in the last year or so, Eiroa recently filed two trademarks in January in his name, Christian Luis Eiroa, and also his initials, C.L.E. When asked about his upcoming return, Eiroa stated he could not comment until April, but did not deny involvement in a new project. I guess we’ll just have to wait a couple months to see what this cigar veteran has up his sleeve.

In other news, fans of Toraño Family Cigars will get a second chance this year to try a limited Torano release from 2011. The Toraño Vault Corona Gorda, which was originally released as a special vitola for the blend that was packaged with the Toraño Vault Humidor, will see a second release in April of this year. The Corona Gorda will still be limited in production, this time with a run of 750 boxes of 20 cigars, as opposed to the smaller run of 500 Vault Humidors released in 2011.

Lastly, we had reported earlier in the month that Macanudo would be releasing a new 6×60 “Gigante” vitola for both their Café, and Macanudo Maduro cigar lines, and we’re happy to announce that both of these new stogies are shipping out this week. Look for the new big-ring Macanudos to be on our shelves within the next week or so.

So that’s all for this week’s round-up, here’s wishing everyone a great weekend, and we’ll see you all back here on Monday.
