When El Triunfador first came out, Pete Johnson of Tatuaje told Cigar Aficionado that he wanted to avoid the buzz when it came to his ``secret`` brand. It was originally only available in a Lancero size, and featured a Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapper.
After seeing the success of the original limited release, Pete Johnson decided to give El Triunfador cigars their own brand. The cigars are manufactured in Don Pepin`s Tabacalera Cubana S.A. factory in Esteli, Nicaragua, and now boast an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper. The filler is Nicaraguan with Seco leaves grown on Pepin`s La Estrella farm in Esteli, adding a little bit of pepper to the mix.
In keeping with Pete Johnson`s other brands, this is a rich, flavorful, and well constructed cigar. The flavors start out mild and sweet with a peppery, spicy finish that isn`t overpowering. They are now available in several different sizes, all of which deliver a perfect amount of flavorful smoke.
Pete Johnson wouldn`t put his name on a cigar unless he smoked it and enjoyed it, so try El Triunfador cigars to see why this originally secret blend was made more widely available to the public.
