Not long after Jaime Partagas sailed from Spain to Cuba, he founded the cigar brand that bears his name. The year was 1845. Yet the greatest chapters of Partagas history were written by two other men, Ramon Cifuentes and the son who was named after him. Whether working together or alone, it was those two great cigar masters who made Partagas the leading Cuban cigar. But in 196l, two years after Fidel Castro had seized control of the Cuban government, Ramon Cifuentes was forced to flee the island, never to return. Seventeen years later, he was finally able to begin creating his Partagas cigars again, this time in the Dominican Republic, where his unmatched tradition of cigar making remains alive and well.

The secret of today's rich Partagas cigars lies in their wrapper leaves. Grown in Cameroon, the Central West African country where the steaming, sub-tropical climate unique to the fourth parallel is ideal for growing superb wrapper leaves, Cameroon wrappers have no equals for rich flavor. Indeed, Ramon Cifuentes determined that he could begin producing his Partagas cigars again only after he had discovered, years after the Cuban embargo had begun, that the best wrapper leaves were being grown in Cameroon rather than in Cuba.

So rich yet never harsh, a Partagas cigar has all the flavor and character of the cigar that knew Cuba when.

Crafted in the uncompromising tradition of Ramón Cifuentes, Partagas Black Label is a connoisseur's cigar with a larger ring gauge and a richer, fuller-bodied flavor.

While Jaime Partagas founded the cigar brand that bears his name, most of the history of Partagas was written by Ramón Cifuentes and his father before him. It was they who made Partagas the leading Cuban cigar before Fidel Castro overthrew the Cuban government in 1959. Almost 20 years after Ramón Cifuentes was forced to flee Cuba, he was finally able to begin making his Partagas cigars again in 1978, this time in the Dominican Republic. And it was there as well as in the fertile Connecticut River Valley that he began to train a young man named Daniel Nunez to become his eventual successor. Now the cigar master of Partagas, Daniel Nunez is the creator of Partagas Black Label and many other innovations.

In order to create Partagas Black Label, Daniel Nuñez and his colleagues spent 10 years perfecting the Medio Tempo wrapper and the La Vega Especial binder. Cuban-seed Medio Tempo wrappers are darker, heavier and richer than other wrappers because they are harvested only after they have been allowed to age on their plants 50% longer than other wrapper leaves. The La Vega Especial binder is sun-grown in the Dominican Republic to give it a deep, rich flavor of its own. To enhance the cigar's full-bodied character even further, the blend is a mixture of Nicaraguan Ligero and Dominican Piloto Cubano Ligero. These tobaccos and a larger ring gauge translate into a richer, fuller-bodied flavor.

Partagas Black Label is an espresso of a cigar, extremely dark in color and extra rich in flavor.

Only Partagas Serie "S" offers you a selection of five different Figurado shapes that enhance the rich Partagas Cameroon flavor in subtly different ways. And every Partagas Serie "S" cigar is a classic example of the cigar-making art at its best; because each of them is crafted by the most experienced artisans in the tradition of the legendary Partagas cigar master Ramon Cifuentes.

Of all the different cigar shapes that exist today, Figurados are the most curious. They are also something of a mystery inasmuch as no one really knows exactly where, when and by whom they were originated. The purpose of Figurados is much clearer, for each of them is designed to enhance the fullness and character of a cigar's flavor. And as one might expect, the interest in Figurados has increased in proportion to the growing interest in full-flavored cigars.

Partagas Figurados are now being crafted by the most experienced Partagas cigar rollers under the Spanish banner of Serie "S". While one or two of the shapes are already familiar to experienced cigar smokers, the others are not. And like all Partagas cigars, Partagas Serie "S" Figurados are crafted with the richest of Cameroon wrappers.

The Partagas brand of premium cigars is renowned by cigar smokers for its quality, consistency and richness of flavor. In 2001, Daniel developed a fuller-bodied version of Partagas called Partagas Black Label. The newest addition to the family that boasts "the richest cigar in the world" is Partagas Spanish Rosado.

Because of the uniqueness of the soil in the San Agustin Valley, the wrapper provides a spicy taste with hints of cinnamon that burns white, leaving a beautiful ash. A Connecticut Broadleaf binder with a blend of Dominican, Honduran and Mexican tobaccos combine to make this medium to full-bodied cigar a must-have for serious cigar smokers.

Partagas Cifuentes Blend is a limited-availability extension to the Partagas portfolio of cigars. It builds upon the legacy of Ramon Cifuentes by introducing a cigar specially blended for the Fall season by Ramonos proteges, Daniel Nunez and Benji Menendez. Cifuentes Seasonal Blend cigars are medium-to-full bodied, rich in flavor, and use a special Honduran Medio-Tiempo wrapper, as well as Nicaraguan filler and binder tobaccos.

These cigars bare the name of the Cifuentes family, the legendary makers of Partagas in Cuba.
