There are few people in the western hemisphere who know the current Chinese zodiac better than cigar smokers. Each new year brings several blends named after the corresponding creature that represents the given year. 2022 may have been the year of the tiger, but with 2023 comes a new slate of smokes celebrating the year of the rabbit.
What would a new year be without rankings and best-of-the-year lists? Everything from the movies to the music and, yes, the cigars of 2022 have been gauged to determine the very best that the year had to offer. However, as much as we enjoy movies and music, we’re here to talk cigars. So, let’s dive into the top three cigars of 2022 as rated by the tasting panel over at Cigar & Spirits magazine.
If someone were to start naming countries that are known for producing tobacco, it would likely take them a while to mention Brazil. The largest country in South America may have a reputation for its carnival celebrations and stunning beaches, but fields of tobacco—not so much.
