Our Story

1996 to 1998

Best Cigar Prices is established. Based out of our original residential headquarters in Stone Ridge, our founder begins selling cigars out of the trunk of his car.

1999

Our first print catalog is introduced, a xeroxed product list distributed locally in N.Y.
Our first website is launched. As you can see, it was cutting edge for 1999.

2001

As the company expanded we moved into our second location in Rosendale, N.Y.
During this period we introduced our first exclusive cigar brand, Oba Oba by Perdomo.

2008

Further growth dictated our next move - into a much larger and more professional new headquarters in Kingston, N.Y. This was our first location with a large humidor warehouse, shipping conveyor, and loading dock.

2009

Our first official BCP logo is introduced across all channels.

2011

Following a period of major business growth and encouraged by new tobacco taxes in N.Y. , the company relocates to Drums, PA
Our newly-built Pennsylvania headquarters is about 5x larger than our previous location, with a humidor warehouse and full departments for shipping and order fulfillment, customer service, marketing, IT, and more

2012-2014

Vast improvements to website design and functionality are implemented, including the introduction of our “Live Chat” feature that allows customers to access customer service reps within minutes.
During this period we made more trips to the Dominican Republic, Honduras, and Nicaragua than ever, forming important relationships with major tobacco growers and factories in these major cigar-producing regions.
This was also the start of a new era in social media for the company, with renewed efforts in building our communities on Facebook, Twitter, & YouTube, as well as the launch of our Instagram account.

2015-2016

Our largest mail advertisement ever reaches one million homes.
Milestone of 20,000 Facebook followers
Launch of our employee G.R.O.W. Program,promoting growth from within and emphasizing our company’s core values.

2017-2018

Best Cigar Prices is honored to be named Small Business of the Year by the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce
New proprietary shipping software increases efficiency in order fulfillment by an astounding 87%
Our BCP Retail Store sees its initial soft opening.

Supply Chain

From Seed to Smoke

Every handmade cigar we sell undergoes a long and rigorous journey before arriving to your doorstep.

1. Our business is based on the strong partnerships we’ve formed with the top cigar makers in the world. Over the past 20 years we’ve forged close working relationships with our vendor partners that will last a lifetime. (pictured:BCP CEO Greg Fox with Plasencia Cigars CEO Nestor Andres Plasencia)

2. The life of any given cigar begins when Tobacco seeds are planted in trays to create seedlings, where they will grow for 38-42 days.

3. After the seedlings grow to a few inches tall they are transplanted into the fields. The young tobacco plants will mature in the fields over the course of 80-105 days.

4. Once harvested, the fully grown tobacco leaves are hung to dry in barns for a period of 6-8 weeks.

5. Dried cigar leaves are arranged and left to ferment in large pilons. The fermentation process usually takes 4-6 weeks.

6. The ripe, matured leaves are then sorted for color and consistency. This highly detailed procedure takes 7-10 days to complete.

7. After sorting, the leaves are left to age in order to achieve a rounder, mellower taste and aroma. Tobacco leaves are typically aged for 1-2 years minimum, and can age as long as 20+ years.

8. Once properly aged, the leaves arrive to the rollers where they are crafted into finished cigars. Each pair of rollers produces 300-500 finished cigars per day.

9. Finished cigars are then sent in large batches to the box factory for packaging, which usually takes a minimum of 30 days.

10. The completed boxes of cigars are shipped from the factories to us with a typical transit time of 2-3 weeks.

11. The cigars arrive at our headquarters in Drums, PA (where they are relieved of their cumbersome MSRP’s ;)

12. Orders are processed and shipped directly from our temperature-controlled humidor warehouse. (orders placed before 4pm ET Mon-Fri ship on the same day)

13. Your cigars arrive fresh and ready to light at your doorstep.
