With the J. Fuego Americana cigar, respected blender Jesus Fuego fulfills his goal of creating a blend centered around American-grown tobaccos. There hasn’t been an abundance of press surrounding the Americana, and truth be told, it was the gorgeous PA Broadleaf wrapper on the cigar that initially piqued my interest.

Notes:

• The complexity of flavors here were impressive, even in the first few puffs. Not only was this cigar particularly complex, but the clarity of flavors therein was remarkable; each note was vivid and easily read.

• Burn line was consistently wobbly all the way through, but never caused a problem. Draw resistance was absolutely perfect for my preference.

• The burly Broadleaf wrapper on the Americana had the look of burning leather as it turned to ash.

•  Ashes held on for about an inch at a time before dropping off.

• This was one of the very few cigars I’ve smoked that conveyed a very distinct and prominent Jalapeno note. Tasty.

• Proceed with extreme caution when retro-haling this cigar. A peppery blast to my sinuses in the 2nd third brought tears to my eyes.

Flavor Report: Smoky Oak, burnt caramel, black pepper, cocoa, cinnamon/nutmeg, red pepper, jalapeno, peanuts, cream, Marzipan

Overall:

9/10 – An extremely rewarding smoke for fans of complex, full-bodied cigars. This was easily my favorite reviewed cigar in recent months.
