This week Alec Bradley announced a new cigar that will be unveiled at this month’s IPCPR Trade show. The cigar, the Mundial, is said to be a game changer for the company, and falls behind the Tempus and the Prensado, two unique cigars the company has released in the past.
“Tempus was a game changer for us, then came Prensado which was also a game changer,” said Sam Phillips, Vice President of Marketing for Alec Bradley. “In my opinion, Mundial will be the next game changer for Alec Bradley.”
Mundial will be a limited release with only 3,000 boxes of 20 cigars being produced. These unique cigars will feature a wrapper leaf grown in the Trojes region of Honduras, the same area the Prensado wrapper came from. The binder leaves are from both Honduras and Nicaragua while the filler is made of four leaves from Honduras and Nicaragua.
Mundial will be available in five sizes, all with pointed feet and the nickname “Punta Lanza,” which means “point of the lance,” a reference to one of Rubin’s earlier mentors. The sizes have yet to be released however the smallest will be 4 ¼ x 48 with the biggest at 7 x 52.
According to Cigar Aficionado magazine Alan Rubin, owner of Alec Bradley, has been working on the cigar for 5 years.
