Last Thursday, November 29th, Cigar Aficionado hosted the Big Smoke in New York City. The Big Smoke is an annual event for cigar enthusiasts to get together with fellow cigar aficionados to smoke, mingle and relax.
This year BCP’s Head Buyer, Warren Rutrick, attended the Big Smoke as a guest, so we were able to get the behind the scenes scoop on the event. The 2012 Big Smoke was held at Pier 94 in New York City. Attendees were not only able to light up indoors but they were able to share a smoke with some of the biggest names in the premium cigar industry. Warren got to spend some time with Rocky and Nish Patel and chat with many other big names in the business.
Inside the venue a variety of cigar booths were set up including CAO, who featured their very own CAO Concert, Rocky Patel had a booth set up featuring some of their premium cigars and Boveda was handing out free humidification accessories. Guests at the event got to stock up on some awesome cigars including: Aging Room, Cusano, Padilla, Rocky Patel and Oliva Serie O to name a few. Also included at the event were a variety of tasty wines, spirits and beer to sample along with a delicious buffet.
A portion of the proceeds from the Big Smoke will go towards Prostate Cancer Research, which is an organization dedicated to finding a cure for prostate cancer, a disease that will effect nearly 50% of all men.
The Big Smoke was a full house and tickets to the event sold out. Hands down, the Big Smoke is all about fine, premium cigars being paired with superb spirits and getting cigar aficionado’s together under one roof to discuss their passion.
