Cigar Stars: Pete Johnson of Tatuaje Cigars

Meaning “tattoo” in Spanish, Tatuaje cigars are one of the most successful and desirable boutique cigar lines around. Created by cigar star Pete Johnson in 2003, Tatuaje cigars are made in the tradition and style of Cuban cigars. Pete teamed up with Master Blender Jose “Pepin” Garcia to create and roll these fine cigars. The Tatuaje line is created in Pepin’s El Rey de Los Habanos Factory in Little Havana, Miami. In 2006, Pete Johnson released a new cigar called the Tatuaje Havana VI, which is a less expensive, yet still tasty, alternative in the Tatuaje line. The Tatuaje Havana VI is rolled in Estelí, Nicaragua.

Named for the collection of tattoos decorating Pete Johnson’s arms, Tatuaje cigars are some of the finest quality stogies on the market. Since the line was started in 2003, Tatuaje cigars have received numerous awards and accolades, including being in Cigar’s Aficionado’s top 25 cigars of the year for three consecutive years from 2005-2007. Most of the cigars in the Tatuaje line have received high ratings in the 90+ category. This should come as no surprise as Pepin Garcia is one of the world’s greatest cigar blenders. Tatuaje cigars are rolled with a Cuban triple-cap and feature 1st Generation Cuban-Seed tobacco grown in Nicaragua.

If you are looking for a great boutique line smoke, blended and rolled in the classic Cuban way, you should check out Pete Johnson’s Tatuaje cigars. Pete Johnson has five other cigar brands, all reminiscent of tasty Cuban cigars, including La Riqueza cigars, Cabaiguan cigars, and Ambos Mundos cigars
