Evelio Robustos – From Master Blender Nestor Plasencia

You may know Evelio from its naked cherub-like mascot that proudly decorates each box of their cigars, but we know them for their great construction, awesome flavor, and sweet value. It seems like these days anything Nestor Plasencia blends turns to gold, and this smoke is certainly no exception. Evelio is named for the late great master roller Evelio Oviedo, and these well-rolled stogies are full-bodied and delicious, especially in the new Robusto size. They’re made with either Ecuadorian Connecticut or Maduro wrapper leaves, Nicaraguan binder, and long filler from Honduras, Mexico, and Nicaragua.

Believe me when I tell you, the flavors in these stogies are outstanding, especially for the price. With the Connecticut, you get a creamy, smooth smoke with the classic strength of the binder and filler tobaccos. The Maduro wrapper adds some more potency with notes of chocolate, coffee, molasses, and more pepper. Either way, these are some top notch smokes that come at the manageable price point of under $2 per stick—unbelievable for such high quality smokes. We don’t come by these smokes too often, so now is the time to stock up!
