Back in August, 2020, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed SB 793 into law. It was a bill that—among other things—prohibited tobacco retailers, and any of their agents or employees, from selling flavored tobacco products or tobacco product flavor enhancers. While the bill passed the state’s Senate with a unanimous 34-0 vote, it wasn’t necessarily popular with everyone.
As if 2020 needed any other bad news, several cigar companies will be increasing prices at the beginning of the next year. So far Perdomo, Padilla, Casa Cuevas, and E.P. When you think of photography, tobacco farms and their workers are probably not the first subjects to come to mind. Rocky Patel is seeking to change that. The cigar company recently opened a virtual art gallery featuring the work of several artists, all based on tobacco and cigars. According to the website, these artists have worked with Rocky Patel for years, compiling “an unbelievable cache of the perfect cigar photography.”
