Rocky Patel and United Tobacco join forces
Big news in the cigar industry, folks. Yesterday brought word from Cigar Aficionado that Rocky Patel has acquired a 50 percent share in United Tobacco. We learned last week that United Tobacco and Miami Cigar were splitting up to lower retain prices on United brands like the top-rated 601, Cubao and Murcielago. Now we know Rocky Patel will be their new distributor.
United will be changing their name to EO Brands, honoring the names of the company’s co-founders Erik Espinosa and Eddie Ortega. And they certainly deserved to be honored, with Ortega reported as saying, “The prices are going to go down anywhere from $2 to $3 per cigar.”
Watch this space for an update as we dig deeper into the implications of this new and exciting partnership.
