Arturo Fuente Anejos cigars are essentially the Maduro-wrapped equivalent of the famous Opus X blend. The smoke is nothing short of profound; notes of chocolate, coffee, and boozy sweetness radiate from the Maduro wrapper leaf, which has been aged in cognac barrels for several months. The Dominican binder and filler grown at Chateau Fuente add pepper and cedar notes, along with many subtle nuances that make this one of the most complex smokes available.

Arturo Fuentes Chateau and Hemingway Best Seller maduros are my cigars of choice. I treat myself to these Anejos occasionally and should buy a box because I don’t smoke a lot so I wouldn’t be busting the bank. I collect and age cigars. My Cuban Cohibas hand rolled at the Hotel De Nacional are my treasures in natural leaf. Otherwise it’s all maduros. These Anejos have that sweet finish I love after dinner for dessert and you can taste a hint of the cognac barrel aging. Always a clean ash and straight burn with a perfect hand rolled construction. If you catch them on sale it’s even better and I don’t see a lot of difference between various types of Anejos. People pay a lot for 2 year aged Padron cigars, but I can’t figure out why. I like Padron, but not as good of a value for the limited tobacco aging. I prefer Cuban and Dominican soil. To each their own and the world goes round.
