Ernesto Perez-Carrillo is chiefly known for producing complex, full-bodied cigars like La Gloria Cubana Serie R and the E.P. Carrillo Edicion Limitada Elencos 2010. For the E.P. Carrillo New Wave Connecticut line, however, he employed a silky and mellow Ecuadorian Connecticut shade wrapper. This, along with Nicaraguan binder and Dominican and Nicaraguan filler leaves, makes for a mellow-to-medium-bodied smoke with notes of nuts, cream, cedar, and baking spice. Perez-Carrillo has succeeded in creating a line that combines remarkable smoothness with an intricate, complex flavor profile.
The New Wave Divinos is my affordable go to cigar for an every day, any time, smoke. In its mild to medium in strength, this smoke has a fairly consistent flavor from first draw to the last. Usually burns even, but as with every brand I've tried, a few in the box are really tight in the draw with an uneven burn. I would recommend the New Wave Divinos as a standard in any humidor.
