Combining centuries of knowledge with a lifetime of passion, two of the greatest names in the premium tobacco industry join for an unrivaled, hand-rolled cigar.Blended by Montecristos world famous Grupo de Maestros and constructed with vintage tobaccos specially aged by the Plasencia family, Espada by Montecristo offers a rich, complex and deeply satisfying smoke. This truly unique and remarkable collaboration between cigar masters has created an exciting new chapter in the illustrious story of Montecristo, and a premium cigar that is not to be missed. Espada, which means sword in Spanish, is the first Montecristo with all of its tobacco coming from Nicaragua a country celebrated for its robust and sweet tobaccos. Pick one up and enjoy a cigar of pure taste and true elegance.
Takes the sweet spot of a Cuban Montecristo, ramps it up to 11 and spreads it over the whole cigar!
The experience opens with a flavor and strength somewhere between their Classic and Platinum lines with some good spice and a bit of a raisiny flavor.
Part way through 1/3, that raisin taste is joined by a delicious sweet cream, almost vanilla. That flavor is what I'd referred to, very similar to the best part of a Cuban Monte but more of it! Things trade off between those flavors until it's own sweet spot where the two flavors marry and this becomes something really special.
It's like berries and cream, but subtler, just enough to really get a good taste but not the syrupy sweetness of an infused cigar and combined with that typically delicious Monte tobacco flavor.
Construction wise, I did have to relight after asking twice and there was a crack in the wrapper, no idea when that happened, but nothing unravels or flakes and it looks just as terrific as any Monte.
The draw is absolutely perfect and produces a CONSTANT stream of smoke which I love!
Monte fans should go ahead and buy a box! When I have the means, I know I will!
