PDR 1878 Santiago is a creamy full-bodied blend, handcrafted from small-batch Nicaraguan and Dominican filler tobaccos, a Nicaraguan binder, and a maduro wrapper leaf. Hearty, earthy, and just a little bit sweet, the 1878 Santiago brings smooth, satisfying flavor from start to finish.
In a marketing world where cigar merchants, after 60 years, still pathetically cling to the idea that the Castro Revolution is just a temporary inconvenience and all these "placeholder" cigars will go away as long as we maintain our heritage and ties to Mother Cuba with pictures of Havana and brands named after Cuban places, it's wonderful to have a true 21st century innovator like Abe Flores, with the guts to rename his brand to reflect his pride in his REAL heritage. And then to re-blend his already-successful PDR & A.Flores cigars to make them more Dominican is just a joy to behold. YAY, ABE FLORES! It doesn't hurt that I've been a vocal supporter of Dominican tobacco since the day I met Klaas Kelner, either. I totally love the new Santiago blend! Long live Puros Dominican Republic!
