Paying homage to the old-world technique of air-curing premium tobacco leaves in barns, Barn Cured Maduro, a blend made by AJ Fernandez and new cigar exclusive to Best Cigar Prices, dropped on to the scene a month ago and is already generating buzz.
Buzz is one thing, but the only thing that convinces me is my taste buds, so let’s get one burning and see what’s what!

Flavors: A tart sweetness and tangy spices with notes of leather, wood, pepper, and floral earth
Draw: Lightly firm—near perfect
Burn: Marbled grey, white, and black with a straight burn line
Body: Full
Our recent press release on Barn Cured gave a high-level view of all three new blends, but sitting down with the flagship ‘Maduro’ has proven that the devil’s in the details. And by devil, I mean fiery peppers. This is an AJ-made blend, after all. I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised.

What does surprise me is the level of nuance for my palate. Sure, it’s complex, but the truth is…anyone can make a complex cigar. Marrying the flavors together for a refined smoking experience is another bag altogether. The leather, wood, and floral notes don’t compete with the spices, nor the underlying tart sweetness that prevails throughout the smoke. Instead, they complement one another, proving that this was blended with purpose—from seed to shelf.
Barn Cured smokes far beyond its sticker price, and you’re not going to believe that unless you try one yourself.
