Some of the world’s most exemplary Corojo tobaccos are grown in the Dominican’s famed Cibao Valley, including the shining wrapper leaf that adorns the La Aurora 1962 Corojo cigar. Under this stunning wrapper lies an Ecuadorian binder securing a careful mix of Cibao Valley and Nicaraguan fillers to create a bold and complex profile that’s teeming with rich notes of cedar, cinnamon, earth, roasted nuts, and more to quench the adventurous palate.
Named for the first year that Brazilian Maduro wrapper leaves were used at the La Aurora factory, the La Aurora 1985 Maduro uses a dark and oily Brazilian Maduro wrapper leaf over Dominican binder and fillers from the D.R. and Nicaragua to bring you an exceptionally smooth and full-bodied smoke. A deliciously dark profile brimming with notes of coffee, leather, and spices has made the1985 a favorite among lovers of masterful maduro cigars.
1987 was the year that La Aurora first began to use Connecticut Shade wrapper leaves, and the 1987 Connecticut cigar pays homage to this landmark year with a delightfully nuanced and mellow profile. Filled out with select Nicaraguan and Dominican tobaccos, the 1987 Connecticut exudes full taste, supreme balance, and subtle sweetness through an ensemble of smooth tasting notes. The product of extensive blend testing, different versions of the Especiales were sampled by roughly 100 retailers who visited the La Aurora factory over the course of six years to determine its final blend composition. A robust combination of Cameroon wrapper over a Dominican binder and filler leaves from the Dominican Republic and the U.S.A. was ultimately selected, introducing a complex flavor profile with notes of honey, caramel, wood, coffee, citrus, nut, leather, and more to the outstanding La Aurora cigar portfolio.
